Clary Sage Essential Oil 100% Natural

One of the most beloved oils by aromatherapists is Clary Sage Essential Oil (Salvia sclarea).

Ancient Romans gave to clary sage the name Salvia, which translated from Latin means “healing” or “saving.” Wounded soldiers used clary sage leaves to treat wounds, and healers used clary sage decoctions for infectious diseases. In the Middle Ages, bundles of clary sage were hung in homes to protect against the plague.

The name Sclarea (Clare) originates from the use of clary sage seeds to extract foreign bodies from the eyes – the word Sclarea is derived from the Latin word clarus, meaning “clear” or “pure.” In English, “clary” is a shortened form of “clear eye.”

DID YOU KNOW??? CLARY SAGE
Clary sage oil is excellent for treating increased pressure in the eyeball (green star) and inflammation of the optic nerve.

Saint Hildegard of Bingen recommended using clary sage for poisonings: “Clary sage is warm and good against poisons. Our winemakers, and partly also our brewers, appreciate its taste for refining cheap wine, giving it a noble, spicy, and full flavor.”

Hence the name “muscat wine.”

The powerful antiseptic properties of clary sage are well known: it has been proven that 3-4 minutes of thorough gargling with clary sage oil destroys staphylococci and streptococci bacteria in cases of sore throat, gum inflammation, or stomatitis.

And this is thanks to the main component of the oil – sabinene, a potent natural antibiotic. Clary sage oil also contains such active components as thujone (41-61%), borneol (7-16%), cineole, and camphor.

Not all components of this versatile oil have been fully studied. It has a specific pungent, fresh aroma with a musky note.

Interestingly, clary sage oil, being one of the most powerful relaxants, especially in diseases associated with stress, fear, emotional exhaustion, also has a stimulating effect on the hormonal system and positively affects sexual behavior in cases of frigidity and impotence.

Its relaxing effect makes clary sage oil indispensable for abdominal massage during painful menstruation and perineal massage before childbirth to make the skin more elastic.

Clary Sage Essential Oil by Vivasan is a typically feminine oil that is used for menstrual cycle irregularities, PMS, postpartum depression, and menopause. The oil contains sclareol, a phytoestrogen whose properties help balance the hormonal background.

Ancient physicians Hippocrates and Dioscorides considered clary sage a sacred herb. It was used as an anti-inflammatory, astringent, disinfectant, hemostatic, and softening agent. The aerial parts rich in essential oils during the flowering period are used in medicine for baths and applications in cases of polyarthritis, osteomyelitis, deforming osteoarthritis, and trophic ulcers.

In folk medicine, clary sage was used for kidney stone disease, kidney diseases, rheumatism, and tachycardia; a decoction of the aerial parts in milk was used as an expectorant and as an aromatic and digestive agent.

It enhances nonspecific protection, showing immunomodulating activity. Increases cortisol levels in the blood. Facilitates getting rid of drug addiction.

In patients with tuberculosis, it normalizes the hormonal status: it increases the level of thyroxine, cortisol, progesterone, estradiol, and reduces elevated insulin levels. Contributes to the treatment of arthritis, bacterial infections, edema, and infectious diseases of the throat.
